Fran and Bear wait in the snow on a nice trail ride with Susan, Di, Eliszabeth, Grace, Charlie and Judie.  Our group of horses consisted of an Arabian, a Shetland pony, two Andalusians, a Belgian cross, a Tennessee Walker and a Rocky Mountain horse.

Weather has warmed up!  Here are the trails looking good from Stormy's back.  Got 12 miles in today!

Jen on Wildfire and Fran on Bear enjoy a warm day in January in the Chester Phelps wildlife management area.

The Rappahannock River, which we ride by on our trails.  The entire top of the river was frozen all the way across.

Judie on Janet French's Tennessee Walker, Stormy, takes a break on a conditioning ride on a sunny, windy day in February.  Stormy is at Meadow Springs for legging up for a 6-week time frame to get ready for her upcoming endurance rides.  This is a really good mare.

Cecile got this shot of Stormy doing the "itchy shake" on our break during a conditioning ride at Phelps.  Check out her eyes.

Becky Suppinger on her new horse Amigo, in his new Taylored Tack bridle joined Judie and Patty for a hard ride.

Patty Cordts and her quarter horse mare Lilly cooling off in the pond during a conditioning ride on a surprising 70-degree day in early March.

While riding with Karla Wells, Bob Hancock and Jen ... Judie and Crandall on their second trail ride come upon a BOOGY MAN -- a mylar balloon, red and silver and caught on the weeds, blowing in the wind.   The horses took a while to sneak up to about 100 feet from the monster and Judie got off and led Crandall to the obstacle.  Then Bob's horse got a little closer, Karla's mare said "um no ... this is my comfort zone and I see absolutely no reason to approach."  Then Jen and Wildfire, AKA Braveheart, came up and Wildfire went right to it.  Then Bob got his horse to accept the scary balloons.

The horses were pretty sweaty with the sudden turn of the weather and after a ride in the 80-degre heat.  Karla cools Bob's horse off while having a smoke.  Great day for all.
