Becky Suppinger's Akhal Teke stallion's
first day at MSTC for training. |
 He
finally figures out to go where sent
|
He learns to stop and
wait for direction instead of kicking at Judie
 |

Finally standing quiet as Judie rubs his belly,
legs and ummmmm, privates with a
training stick. |

DON'T CROWD ME!
This is my space, Mr. Studley! |

In the arena of obstacles, where the mares have more attention than
Judie. |

Good boy!
Finally listening and paying attention. |

Waiting quietly for what's next |

Step to the left and line up |

Good boy!
Stepping quietly onto the bridge |

He did go through all four, then off
with a whip of his tail! |

Becky gets to ride Garzhan for the first time in the round pen.
He is doing well!
Garzon has done a complete turn around. He started out almost vicious. I could not take my mind off him for a second. He was a biter, kicker and just did not have any respect at all. I had to take a lot of time in the round pen teaching him respect and earning it from him. He was turned out with three other geldings -- this really helped him realize he was not the only horse in the universe. He had been living alone before as a stallion -- no buddy horses, so he did not have any social skills. Getting kicked around and bitten on was a new way of life. Then, when he started to listen and learn, he decided he liked working. He is doing very well, stands quiet when tied, is patient and I can get off him in the arena to work with another horse and he will stand where I leave him and wait for me to come and get him. He will be started on trail as soon as the weather permits.
