Whether you have a young hopeful to get
started under saddle or an accomplished endurance horse that
needs conditioning, Meadow Springs Training Center has the
ability to help. We are located on 4,000 acres of a
wildlife management area with access to 20 miles of wooded
trails.
Judie is a veterinary technician/horse
trainer, so comprehensive health care is on hand in case of
emergencies. A mobile vet is only 40 minutes away.
The training center has a 60' round pen,
full-size arena and a treadmill. We use gentle,
natural horsemanship training methods .... starting the
young horses in the round pen, advancing to the arena, and
onto the trails. We also offer conditioning to the
riders that don't have the time to ride their endurance
horse, and get them ready for the distances needed.
We help horse people cross over to
endurance riding from all disciplines, showing them how to
manage the endurance horse and rider, teach what is needed
to train for the distance -- how to crew, camp, and how to
keep our vets and other riders safe. We educate new
endurance riders on purchasing safe portable corrals and
stress the importance of good containment in camp.
We are a modest facility tucked away in
the woods -- quiet and scenic. There are good roads
with large trailer access to the center. Town is 15
miles away in either direction, with restaurants, stores and
hotels. There is a
winery 1/4 mile
up the road.
We have room for you to stay with your LQ
trailer and horses and trails you can ride while visiting.
Current coggins and vaccinations a must ... reservation
required.
We are within 2 hours from the Old
Dominion trails, so if you need a place to stop over before
the OD ride, you can park, put your horse up, plug in and
rest.
Contact us for all your training and endurance needs.
